As amazing as it may seem, sometimes there's just too much going on. That is why I haven't posted a blog entry in quite a few days. But as I said, it's not for lack of activity.
I've been contacting candidates throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, asking them a simple question: What's your position on the universal helmet law?
In most cases an email does the trick. Other times it takes a phone call or a visit to one of their campaign stops. There's also some coordination going on with ABATE of Virginia officers as well as Legislative Alert subscribers, just to put it all into perspective.
The result? We have compiled a list of races -- in priority order -- that are the best opportunities for increasing our vote count. That means building a legislative majority.
This year we have two major areas to focus on, each with a boat-load of races for the taking. One area is Northern Virginia, where we are on the defensive.
That means biker-friendly incumbents need our help to stay in office. If you live anywhere in the metropolitan Washington DC area, these races are for you.
The other hot spot is the Tidewater area. From Newport News and Hampton down to Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, there are also worthy candidates.
But unlike Northern Virginia, the bulk of these races allow us to take the offensive. Tidewater has several anti-biker incumbents up for reelection, and they are in very tight races.
With just a little effort and coordination, we can really increase our vote count in the legislature.
